Dental Laser Treatment at InfiSmiles Dental Clinic, Surat
Dental lasers use focused light energy to reshape or treat gums, soft tissue and, with some devices, tooth structure. In the right case, laser dentistry can mean less bleeding, fewer stitches, less noise and vibration, and a more comfortable visit than traditional instruments.
Lasers are a tool, not a cure-all. At InfiSmiles Dental Clinic we examine you first and use a laser only where it suits the problem. If conventional treatment will do the job better, we say so. Care is led by Dr. Dhaval Patel, Chairman of InfiSmiles, who has served patients for more than 18 years. Dental laser treatment in Surat is available at our Sayan and Sarthana (Nana Varachha) clinics.
What is Dental Laser Treatment?
Dental laser treatment uses a narrow beam of light of a specific wavelength to cut, shape or treat tissue. Different lasers do different jobs:
- Soft tissue lasers (such as diode lasers): Used on gums and the lining of the mouth. They can cut, reshape and seal tiny blood vessels, which often means less bleeding.
- Hard tissue lasers (such as erbium lasers): Can work on tooth structure and bone, for example when preparing small cavities.
No single laser does everything, so the procedures we offer depend on the device we use.
Benefits of Laser Dentistry
When a laser suits the treatment, benefits can include:
- Less bleeding: Soft tissue lasers help seal small blood vessels.
- Fewer or no stitches in some procedures, such as gum contouring or frenectomy.
- Precision: The beam treats a small area and can protect healthy tissue nearby.
- Less noise and vibration, which helps patients who are nervous about the drill.
- A more comfortable procedure in many cases, and sometimes less need for anaesthetic injections.
- Healing that is often quicker than with a scalpel for some soft tissue procedures.

Laser Dental Treatments We Offer in Surat
Laser Gum Contouring and Gummy Smile Correction: Gum contouring reshapes the gum line when gums cover too much of the teeth or the gum edges are uneven. A laser can trim and shape the gum with little bleeding. It suits some gummy smiles. If the cause is the jaw, lip or tooth position, a laser alone may not give the result you want, and we explain this at the consultation. Gum contouring is often part of a smile makeover.
Laser Gum Disease Therapy: Laser-assisted gum treatment can support standard cleaning for gum disease by disinfecting the gum pockets and removing infected tissue. The foundation of gum treatment is still removing plaque and tartar, and keeping up your home care and check-ups. Gum infections are also a common cause of bad breath.
Laser Cavity Detection and Early Cavity Treatment: Laser fluorescence devices can help detect early decay in the grooves of teeth. This supports our examination and X-rays but does not replace them. Some hard tissue lasers can prepare small cavities with little or no drilling, and the tooth is then restored with a filling. Larger cavities usually need traditional treatment.
Laser-Assisted Root Canal Treatment: In some cases, a laser is used as an extra step to help disinfect the root canal after it has been cleaned and shaped. It does not replace standard root canal treatment, and research on its added benefit is still developing.
Laser Teeth Whitening: Some clinics use a laser or special light to activate whitening gel. Studies have not clearly shown that this gives better or longer-lasting results than gel alone, and it does not remove the chance of sensitivity.
Cold Sore and Mouth Ulcer Laser Treatment: Low-level laser treatment may reduce pain and speed healing of some mouth ulcers and cold sores. Evidence is limited, and it does not cure the virus or guarantee that sores will not return. A mouth ulcer or patch that does not heal in two to three weeks should always be examined by a dentist.
When to Consider Laser Dentistry
A laser may be worth discussing if you have:
- Gum problems such as swelling, bleeding or deep pockets
- A gummy smile or uneven gum line
- Early cavities in the grooves of your teeth
- A tight tongue-tie or lip-tie for you or your child
- Anxiety about the drill, injections or noise
- A small growth or ulcer that needs treatment
- Persistent bad breath linked to gum infection
Treatment is always planned after an examination, because many of these problems also have a conventional solution.
