Full Mouth Implants in Surat

Full Mouth Implants at InfiSmiles Dental Clinic, Surat

If you have lost most of your teeth, or the ones you have cannot be saved, full mouth dental implants can give you a firmly anchored set of replacement teeth. Instead of resting on the gums like dentures, the new teeth are held by implants fixed in your jawbone.

This is a major treatment that needs careful planning. At InfiSmiles Dental Clinic, we examine your teeth, gums, bone and general health first, take a scan, and explain which option suits you, how long it will take, the risks and the cost. Full mouth implants in Surat are led here by Dr Dhaval Patel, Chairman of InfiSmiles, who has served patients for more than 18 years. You can visit our Sayan or Sarthana (Nana Varachha) branch.

What Are Full Mouth Dental Implants?

Full mouth dental implants replace all the teeth in the upper jaw, the lower jaw or both. Several small titanium implants are placed in the jawbone. Over a few months, they bond with the bone, a process called osseointegration. A full set of teeth, either a fixed bridge or a denture that clips on, is then attached to the implants.

The approach is also called full arch implants or full mouth rehabilitation. Replacing one or a few teeth is covered on our dental implants page. The number of implants per jaw, usually between four and eight, depends on your bone, your bite and the type of teeth chosen.

Benefits of Full Mouth Dental Implants

Wisdom tooth removal is usually advised when a tooth is causing problems or is likely to. Common signs are:

  • Stable teeth: The teeth are anchored to implants, so they do not slip like loose dentures.
  • Stronger chewing: Many patients can eat a wider variety of foods than with conventional dentures.
  • Natural look: Teeth are shaped and coloured to suit your face and smile.
  • Clearer speech: A stable set of teeth can make speaking easier.
  • Helps preserve jawbone: Implants stimulate the bone around them, which helps reduce the bone loss seen under dentures.
  • Long-term solution: With good care, many implants last for years or decades.

What to Know Before You Decide

Full mouth implants involve surgery, healing time and a higher cost than dentures. Results depend on your bone, gum health, general health and daily care. Smoking and poorly controlled diabetes raise the risk of failure. We discuss all of this with you at the consultation.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Full Mouth Implants?

You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Have lost most or all of your teeth, or have teeth that cannot be saved because of decay or gum disease
  • Struggle with loose or uncomfortable dentures
  • Have enough jawbone, or are suitable for a bone graft
  • Have healthy gums, or gum disease that has been treated
  • Are in good general health and your jaws have finished growing (adults)
  • Want a fixed or firmly anchored replacement

When We May Advise Waiting or Another Option

We may advise treating gum disease first, stopping tobacco, getting diabetes under control, or choosing dentures or a smaller treatment instead. Please tell us about any medicines, such as bone-strengthening drugs or blood thinners, or any past radiation to the jaws. Age alone is not a barrier.

Types of Wisdom Tooth Extraction in Surat

The type of extraction depends on how the tooth is positioned. We confirm this with an X-ray before we plan treatment.

Simple Extraction: If the tooth has fully come through the gum and is easy to reach, the dentist loosens it with instruments and removes it without cutting the gum. This is the quickest type, and recovery is usually the easiest.

Surgical Extraction for Impacted Wisdom Teeth: If the tooth is stuck in the gum or bone, a small opening is made in the gum to reach it. A little bone may be removed, and the tooth may be divided into sections so it can come out safely. Gum stitches, usually dissolvable, close the area. Impacted wisdom tooth removal in Surat is a minor surgical procedure and recovery takes longer than a simple extraction.

Soft Tissue Impaction Removal: The tooth has come through the bone but is partly covered by gum. The gum is lifted, and the tooth is removed. Removing the tooth also prevents the repeated gum infection (pericoronitis) that happens around partly erupted teeth.

Partial Bony Impaction Removal: The tooth is partly buried in the jawbone. A small amount of bone is removed to expose the tooth, which is then taken out, often in sections.

Complete Bony Impaction Removal: The tooth is fully covered by bone. This is the most involved wisdom tooth surgery in Surat and needs careful planning with X-rays, especially when the tooth lies close to nerves.

Types of Full Mouth Implant Treatment in Surat

The right option depends on your bone, bite and budget, and is chosen after a 3D scan.

All-on-4 Dental Implants: The All-on-4 approach supports a full arch of fixed teeth on four implants, with the back implants usually placed at an angle to use the available bone. It can allow some patients to avoid bone grafts and, in suitable cases, to receive temporary teeth soon after surgery. The four implants carry the whole load, so it is not suitable for every jaw. All-on-4 is a brand name, so we explain the system we use.

All-on-6 Dental Implants: An All-on-6 approach uses six implants per jaw. The extra implants spread the biting force and give more support, which may help patients with a strong bite or wider jaws and enough bone. It needs more bone and costs more than a four-implant plan.

All-on-8 and Advanced Systems: Using eight implants per jaw gives the most support. It is chosen when there is plenty of healthy bone and a high demand on the teeth. Your scan shows whether this is needed.

Implant-Supported Fixed Teeth: A fixed prosthesis is screwed or cemented onto the implants, and you cannot remove it at home. It feels closest to natural teeth, but you must clean carefully under and around it, and your dentist removes it for checks.

Implant-Retained Overdentures (Removable): An overdenture clips onto implants and can be taken out for cleaning. It is more stable than a standard denture, needs fewer implants than fixed teeth, and usually costs less. Some people prefer it for easier cleaning.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation With Individual Implants: Each missing tooth is replaced by its own implant and crown, or small groups of teeth by bridges. This gives the most natural and customised result, but it needs the most implants, the most bone and the highest cost.

Bone Grafting and Sinus Lift: Preparing the Jaw for Implants

Implants need enough healthy bone. After tooth loss, years of wearing dentures or gum infection, the bone can shrink. If there is not enough, we may recommend:

  • Bone grafting: Bone material is placed in the jaw to rebuild its height or width. The graft usually needs several months to heal before implants are placed, though in some cases the graft and implants are placed together.
  • Sinus lift: In the upper back jaw, the sinus floor is gently raised and bone material added so implants can be placed.

Not everyone needs these procedures. Some systems, such as angled implants, may avoid them in suitable cases. Your scan decides.

Full Mouth Implant Treatment Process: Step by Step

  1. Consultation and examination: We review your health, teeth, gums and bite, and talk about your goals.
  2. Scan and planning: A 3D CBCT scan and digital records show your bone and nerve positions, so the implants can be planned precisely.
  3. Preparing the mouth: Gum disease and decay are treated. Teeth that cannot be saved are removed. Bone grafting, if needed, is done first.
  4. Implant surgery: The implants are placed under local anaesthesia.
  5. Temporary teeth: In suitable cases, fixed temporary teeth are fitted soon after surgery. Otherwise, a temporary denture is used.
  6. Healing: The implants bond with the bone over about three to six months, with check-ups.
  7. Final teeth: Once healed, the final bridge or denture is made, fitted and adjusted.
  8. Maintenance: Regular reviews and professional cleaning keep the implants healthy.

Total treatment time ranges from a few months to a year or more, depending on grafting and healing.

Days 2 to 7:

Is Full Mouth Implant Surgery Painful?

The surgery is done with the area numbed, so you should not feel pain during it. You can feel pressure and vibration. Some patients choose sedation to feel more relaxed.

After surgery, soreness, swelling and bruising are normal for several days and are usually controlled with the medicines your dentist prescribes. Everyone heals differently.

Recovery, Aftercare and Long-Term Care

  • First days: Expect swelling and mild bleeding. Rest, use cold packs and take medicines as advised.
  • Diet: Eat soft foods for the first weeks and avoid biting hard on the temporary teeth. Your dentist tells you when you can eat normally.
  • Cleaning: Brush gently around the implants, clean between and under the teeth with interdental brushes or a water flosser. Our oral hygiene tips cover the basics.
  • No smoking or tobacco: These slow healing and increase the risk of implant failure.
  • Check-ups: Visit every six months, or as advised, for cleaning and checks. A night guard may be advised if you grind your teeth.
